In this video, Bertie Van Wyk discusses the future experience of work, with a focus on the importance of workplace wellness and the trend of employees working remotely. Herman Miller has been studying the future of work since 2001 and made a projection in 2006 called “Grounded” that predicted the impact of events such as pandemics and fluctuating oil prices. The study brought to light three key points that will shape the future of work in the next 5-7 years:  communities, not companies;  machines work for us and we want control;  and coworking.

In this video, Natalia Davydova discusses the opportunities that COVID-19 has brought to their space in Tokyo: Nagatacho GRiD. Natalia Davydova works for GAIAX, a Japanese startup studio that develops social media and sharing economy solutions to tackle social issues. Gaia operates under the Principles of Steel organization, which grants employees complete freedom to choose when, where, and how they work, what projects to participate in, and even allows multi-employment. The company also provides various programs and facilities to promote work-life balance, such as playrooms, yoga and meditation facilities, and child care.

After talking about how workspaces will adapt from 2020 and beyond, inviting coworking spaces to share their ways of adapting to the pandemic we invited Tara Everett to share with us her unique adaptation story, one linked to her local environment. Following the before and after stories of CRU Cowork, The Haven and Coworker Hub, we invited Davide Dattoli, Co-Founder of one of Europe’s largest coworking brand Talent Garden (TAG) to talk to us about how TAG adapted to the pandemic both as a team and as a brand as well as what do they imagine the future of coworking to look like in the regions where they are located.TAG being originally from Italy, the first European country hit hard by COVID-19, but also being present all over Europe, it was very interesting to realize that each and every European country adapted differently to the pandemic, which had, as a result, a different impact on coworking spaces.
