Adapting to your environment

A conversation with Tara Everett, Founder of Canoe Coworking

Hack Coworking Online day one was all about adaptation somehow. After talking about how workspaces will adapt from 2020 and beyond, inviting coworking spaces to share their ways of adapting to the pandemic we invited Tara Everett to share with us her unique adaptation story, one linked to her local environment. As we often say, coworking can have many forms and if there is one thing COVID-19 highlighted is that coworking can also happen virtually.

COVID-19 Coworking Stories

A conversation with Tania Santos (CRU Cowork), Carrie Douglass (The Haven) and Rachel Keyser (Coworker Hub)

Building the program of Hack Coworking Online together with the participants, we realized how important it was to find a balance between the different types of talks we would be hosting. Thus, after discussing the impact of COVID-19 on the coworking industry through data, interior and users, it is now time for some “concrete” stories. COVID-19 being a global phenomenon, it impacted coworking spaces all over the world. For the next panel, which we called COVID-19 stories, we invited 3 amazing coworking founders to share their stories and show the before/after COVID to our audience, so everyone can visually see the impact it had on their space and on their community.

The future of Access systems

by Jeremy Fain, Chief Revenue Officer at Welcomr

In our most recent articles, we took the time to iterate on Sombat Ngamchalermsak’s talk during Hack Coworking Online, all about Workplace Adaptation from 2020 and beyond, looking at the impact of COVID-19 on office design and office layout. Another angle we wanted to tackle during the event was technology in the workplace and the new trends that will rise out of COVID-19. And who better to present those than Welcomr, our challenge partner?

Workplace Adaptation: 2020 and beyond

Sombat Ngamchalermsak, Co-Founder & Director at Paperspace

Following Ben Tannembaum’s presentation on the impact of COVID-19 on the coworking industry, we made our way to Bangkok, to e-meet Sombat Ngamchalermsak, Co-Founder & Director at Paperspace an architectural company with offices across South-East Asia. The first time we met Sombat was in 2018 in Bangkok at his coworking space and we loved listening to his perspective on how workspaces are constantly mutating and evolving towards new experiences. During the pandemic, we came across a really interesting study Sombat carried together with his team called “Workplace Adaptation: 2020 and beyond”.

Recap of the coworking hackathon and e-conference

“Coworking Post COVID-19” is a phrase you might have read and heard over and over again over the last few months. But what does it mean? How is coworking evolving following this global outbreak? From May 28th to May 30th, we organized Hack Coworking Online, a 48h00 e-hackathon and e-conference part of our Hack Coworking global event series, to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the coworking industry through various angles.
